Oscar's Ordeal!

We made the decision early on to spay and neuter the bunnies, not only does it prevent the obvious, but it allows them to live longer and healthier lives.

We had no idea that what should have been a simple procedure with one follow up for suture removal would turn into multiple trips to the vet and a month long ordeal!

Our first trip was the initial scheduled procedures on June 4th.  Chloe got through surgery with no issues whatsoever.  Oscar on the other hand...even the vet was a bit flabbergasted when she called to deliver the news that they were only able to "half" neuter Oscar.  You can't really blame the poor guy, once he lost half his "manhood" he conveniently "hid" the other half to the point that it was not safe to try and finish the procedure.   The solution, bring him back in 12 days and they will try again.   Simple enough, that was when Chloe was due to have her sutures out.

Once again, Oscar didn't make things quite that easy.  Fast forward a few days and we discover that Chloe has ripped out almost all of her sutures!  We made an emergency trip to the vet on a Sunday afternoon to get her fixed up. The vet said Oscar was the most likely culprit, deciding to "remove" them for us. Poor Chloe ended up with 12 staples in her belly!

Another 12 days and we are back to the vet so Chloe could finally have her staples properly removed. The vet looked at Oscar and the prognosis still didn't look good to finish his procedure, luckily the little guy cooperated after all and they were finally able to complete the surgery.  Our awesome vet even started with staples this time to try and prevent another emergency visit.

We made it through our 12 days and Oscar and I made our final trip to the vet this morning.

Off I go with the little troublemaker

All went well and Oscar is quite the celebrity at the veterinary office.  As much as we love the staff, we hope that is our last visit for a while!

Our little guy back home safe and sound tonight. You just can't stay mad at a face like that!
